Ewenny Arts Festival

We last sang in Ewenny Priory in February 2016, and it was such a treat to return there last Saturday (9th March 2019) to sing a programme of unaccompanied music for Lent and Passiontide.

Ewenny Priory was founded in the 12th century for Benedictine monks of Gloucester Abbey and is unusual, as it is surrounded by a fortified perimeter wall.

The space inside the Abbey worked fantastically for our programme, as the monastic end of the church (separated from the rest of the building by a beautiful glass screen) allowed us to perform some pieces ‘unseen’.

We’d like to extend a big thank you to all those at Ewenny who invited us and organised such a fantastic concert, and we hope to see you again soon!

Our next concert will be in St Augustine’s Church, Penarth; a programme of music inspired by poetry. Full programme information will be available closer to the time but it will include music from Elgar, Whitacre, Rutter and Shearing plus others. Tickets are available from Ticketsource at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/cantemus-chamber-choir
