Mozart concert: the final countdown begins!

It’s just a week to go until our performance of Mozart’s Requiem and Great Mass in C Minor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on April 23rd. Rehearsals have been going well, and now we can’t wait for the performance! These two monumental works represent the pinnacle of Mozart’s writing for the church, and despite being incomplete, serve as a fitting monument to his genius and endless creativity.

We have a fantastic line up of soloists : internationally acclaimed Welsh soprano Elin Manahan Thomas is joining us for the second time, as is up-and-coming tenor Guy Cutting, who played the Evangelist with such aplomb in our St John Passion last year. Singing with us for the first time will be the fantastic mezzo Martha McLorinan, who trained at the RWCMD, and baritone Julian Empett, whose career highlights include singing a solo at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!

Accompanying us once again will be the wonderful Baroque ensemble Rejouissance, led by the College’s Head of Strings, Dr Simon Jones. The distinctive timbre of the historical instruments will lend the performance a special vitality and authenticity. Rejouissance comprises some of the very best period instrument players in Europe and we’re delighted to continue our flourishing partnership with them.

Tickets are still available from the RWCMD box office on 02920 391391. Don’t miss what promises to be an unforgettable evening of music-making! See you there….
